AGM

The Society will be starting activity again with the Annual General Meeting on Monday September 12th at 7:00 in the church hall. Please make every effort to attend since the History Society needs volunteers to keep things going. The membership fee has been frozen for another year and there will also be some IMPORTANT announcements on our visits that have been planned for the coming year and the new lecture list.

Dear all in Resolven, my name is Steve Coope and recently I visited your lovely town in search of my ancestor George William Coope, who, moved to South Wales looking for work in about 1900. After a short stay in Merthyr, he married Jennet Vaughan and moved to 23, Yeo St, Resolven. His eldest daughter, Janet Rebecca married the lodger, Reginald Lodge.
I found George and Jennets grave alongside the church and Janet and Reginald's in the graveyard further down the road. Jennet outlived George by a long way, I'm wondering if any of you know if she stayed in Yeo St, did Janet take over the house or did she move elsewhere? Any info would be gratefully received on the Coope family in Resolven.
Many thanks,
Steve.
